Bard MBA in Sustainability Named the #1 MBA for Impact in the World

The Bard MBA in Sustainability has been recognized as the #1 MBA program in the world for impact by Corporate Knights, in its 2025 Better World MBA ranking.

The ranking evaluates how business schools are preparing leaders to drive real, measurable change in the sustainable economy. Out of 179 programs worldwide, Bard earned the highest alumni impact score, with more than half of graduates working in sustainability roles or at mission-driven organizations — a rate over three times the global average.

“We built the Bard MBA to prove that business can be a force for good — and it’s working,” said Eban Goodstein, founder of the Bard MBA in Sustainability. “Our alumni are out in the world tackling the toughest challenges in climate and equity. To be named #1 for impact is both an honor and a call to keep pushing forward.”

What “Impact” Means

In this year’s methodology, Corporate Knights evaluated programs based on two key measures:

  • Curriculum content (90%) — the depth of sustainable development themes integrated across core courses, from climate finance to supply chain ethics and equity.
  • Alumni impact (10%) — the proportion of graduates working in sustainability-focused roles, at mission-driven organizations, or at companies recognized for sustainability leadership.

Bard’s #1 global ranking for impact reflects the reach of its alumni — sustainability executives at companies like Etsy and Deutsche Bank, consultants driving ESG transformation at Guidehouse, and founders building purpose-driven ventures that link profit with planetary well-being.

Corporate Knights also ranked Bard #4 overall worldwide, which continues Bard’s multi-year streak near the top, following #3 in 2024 and #4 in 2023.

The Better World MBA ranking showcases business schools redefining what success looks like in management education — emphasizing climate solutions, equity, and systems thinking over short-term profit.
