ESG Committee: 2024–2025 Annual Sustainability Report

Written by The Bard MBA 24/25 ESG Committee | January 16, 2026

The ESG Committee is excited to announce the publication of the 2024–2025 Annual ESG Report.

Key Updates to the 2024-2025 Annual Sustainability Report

In 2025, the Committee continued the work of previous cohorts, evolving this student-led sustainability report by refining the reporting methodology and adding new data sources.  The 2024-2025 academic year report includes the program's impacts in both Environmental and Social areas.

As a continuation of prior cohorts’ efforts, the Environmental section primarily features a carbon footprint, which remains the core of this report. This section highlights the detailed work undertaken by students in data collection and calculation to create a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, as well as year-over-year comparisons of program performance. In the Social section, the report highlights the program’s JOI (Justice-Oriented Impact) framework. JOI centers on cultivating cultures of fairness and belonging within organizations while advancing positive social impact through sustainable business practices. This section explores program impact, equity, and diversity through the lens of justice-centered outcomes.

Additionally this year’s report includes:

  • The introduction of AI-related impacts within the data section
  • The collection of waste data through our first waste stream audit

Highlighted Results

The Environmental section covers key impact areas including Transportation, Accommodations, Food, Buildings, Data, Waste, and Books. In the 2024–2025 reporting year, the program’s total emissions amounted to 153.55 metric tons of CO₂e, representing a 2.39% decrease from the previous year.

This reduction is primarily attributed to changes in waste calculation methodologies and a lower number of faculty and students. Consistent with prior years, Transportation remains the largest emissions source, accounting for 70.9% of total emissions.

Our 18-member student ESG Committee is proud to share this report and invites you to explore it in detail. We remain committed to continuously improving our reporting processes and developing meaningful recommendations that reduce environmental impact while enhancing the student experience year after year.

Committee members were responsible for every stage of the process—from survey design and methodology development to data analysis, visualization, and interpretation. The skills gained through participation provide valuable, real-world experience that is directly transferable to the sustainability roles students will pursue in their careers.
